Brisbane ANZAC Parade

Today is ANZAC Day which is a national day of remembrance in all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Thus, this morning, I went to City for ANZAC Parade. I wish to pay tribute to the men and women to service the country. The parade is very large, that was about 125 groups to join this parade.

ANZAC Ex-Service People

Firstly, the first group in the parade are some world war I and II ex-service men and women.  Also, I found there was British ex-service men and women in the parade.

Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle@Zen corner

Last Saturday,  we went to a new noodle bar, Zen corner , in Sunnybank Plaza for our lunch. When I looked at their menu, there is Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle. That is great! I must try it!

That tasted good, quite authentic. Each wonton had prawn and pork, not bad.  The noodle was nice and fresh too! Moreover, the price is reasonable too. Large size which was the one I ordered costed $12, had 12 pieces of wonton (The small one is $9). The price is fair. I was about the lunch!

Frozen Yogurt@ Nominom

Frozen Yogurt has been popular in Hong Kong for a while. Last year, I was in Hong Kong, I saw a lot of Frozen Yogurt in there.  In recent years, it becomes popular in Brisbane too. All major shopping centers at least have one Frozen Yogurt.

Well, I wish to have one too! So, I bought a groupon coupon, for Nominom. That is $3 coupon has $6 value! And few weeks ago,  I went to there for a trial.  The way to buy frozen yogurt is interesting. They are not selling Frozen Yogurt per cup. The price is counted by weight, $2 for 40g. You can freely choose any frozen yogurt base with the topping.  I got $6 voucher, therefore I could have 240g.

I chose Coffee Frozen Yogurt as the based. Choosing topping was a bit headache. So many choices, there were various selections of fruits, candy and chocolate.  Finally, I chose some M&M, chocolate with some of mango and kiwi fruit. I got the job done, that was my frist frozen yogurt.

The chicken was fried perfectly, not too oily. I love it. The noodle was in a good shape too! Moreover, that is not very expensive, $10.90! I am sure I will go there again!

Afternoon Tea@Lucky Inn

Last week, I went to Lucky Inn for afternoon tea as our lunch.I ordered a baked black pepper sauce chicken  rice which is $8.90 with a hong kong drink. The portion is not small at all. However, the most interesting feature is refill for the drink. All customers ordered afternoon meal set can have a refill for the same type of drink in the meal. That is value for money!

Butter Chicken @Touch of IndiaThere are many good Indian takeaway around Brisbane, such as Touch of India at Garden City. It is quite new, I remember that only opened a few months. When I passed by the food court at level 1 I can smell the taste of curry from this restaurant.  Well, I have tried their curry one times too! I ordered a curry special, included a can of soft drink, a naan bread and a curry rice. That was a good deal, only $9.90 and you can choose any curry! This times, I chose butter chicken. That was great and it tasted good, not very creamy! I love it. The dish was full of favor of curry! The naan bread was good too! I put “Touch of India” on the list of Michael’s choices for restaurants.

Christmas day in Brisbane

Christmas Lunch at Church

I guess everyone in Hong Kong is very busy with shopping now, because a lot of shops are on sales.
In Brisbane, no one goes to shopping too. Most of shops are closed. Even Mcdonald’s is not opening too. Most of people I know planned to spend their Christmas with family and friends. They will setup a barbecue at backyard, invite the people to their home.
For us, we went to the Christmas service in my church. After that, we had a lunch together with brothers and sisters .

City Hall got new colors

Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular

Last Friday, when I was in King George square, I found the city hall turned into new colors. Well, actually, that is a part of Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular. The organizer used a 3d projector to project 3d images on City Hall and those images changes every 15 minutes. Suddenly, the City Hall turned into a magic castle. That is fantastic. Please don’t miss that!

Date: today to 24/12/2013

Time: 7:30pm to midnight.

Handmade Product Market@King George SquareThere are a number of Street Market in Brisbane, such as the weekend market in Southbank and fresh food market in Brisbane Square. Recently, I found there is a new Street Market in Brisbane. This market will be held in King George Square, just in front of City Hall, on every Friday.  The most interesting part is all products are created by Brisbane Artist and completely hand-made.  That is very unique.

After heavy rain and damaging storms on Sunday night, I am ok. For the affects for us, that was just about a day power outage. We lost electrical power since 6pm Sunday to around 4am today. For other parts of Brisbane, I heard about from friends, there were some floods.  This morning, my friend sent me some photos which took in Riverside near Eagle Street last night, the pathway had water.

The restaurant near the citycat pier had some water went inside too.

Moreover, when I drove around this morning, everywhere  had some trees fallen down. I went the park nearby, the pathway had full of falling trees! I did not felt safe to walk around.Falling Trees@After Storm

However, in general, that is not as bad as the 2011 floods in Brisbane. We are so glad about that.
