Brisbane City Council Library in Garden City is serving for Brisbane People for a long period of time. 20 years ago, I moved to Brisbane, that library located in Garden City. Moreover, that is a popular location After we did the supermarket shopping in Garden City, we can go to the Garden City Library for reading. In addition, the collections in the Library have a lot of Chinese books and Magazine. However, today is the last day of this “old” Garden City library. It will close for two weeks and move to a new location on 25/7. Please do not worry, that is still a good location in Garden City, only a steps away. That will move from the current location, next to “ToysRus”, to the new location next Bupa Dental. I read the floor plan of the new library. That sounds bigger too!
Lastly, during the closure period of this library, there will be a pop-up library at 2065A Shop. You can renew the loaned books and return the books.

SkatingAt Festival(Winter Festival)
Now is the winter time in Brisbane, but the lowest degree in Winter time is just only around 7-8 degree. Thus, we cannot see the snow at all.
However, you can go to SkatingAt Festiva to have a snowy winter.
From today to 22nd July 2017, a giant ice rink and ice slide have setup in King George Square. I believe you can skate in there. But you need to pay the entry fee, Adult $28, Children (8 to 13-year-old) $20, Kid (3 to 5-year-old) $10.(Buy online ~20% off).
Also, there are some food trucks next to the ice rink. They offer some hot foods, which is the best for the cozy winter.
That sounds cool, I think you should not miss this event.

Chicken Curry@Aburi Kitchen
During the Easter holiday, we were having lunch in Garden City. Our usual lunch choice Hanaichi, did not open. That is a good opportunity to try something new. So, we bought the other Japanese style takeaway in the same food court, Aburi Kitchen. It just opened a few months ago.
Finally, I ordered Curry Chicken with Rice. This is a bit more expensive than Hanaichi. It costs around $13, but there was an opening offer, I got a bottle of free water. That is not bad; the price sounds similar to others. Moreover, it tasted quite good. I like the sauce; it tasted quite sweet. Also, it had a lot of chicken meat. Lastly, the rice made quite good too, that was not too hard or too soft! I think that is a new Chicken Curry Choice for new.

PepperLunch@Sunnybank

Pepper Rice (Classic Chicken)
PeeperLunch is an original Japanese DIY
Teppan restaurant. They have branches in Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and other Asia countries I had a lot of times when I was in Hong Kong. They opened a branch in Sunnybank a few months ago. I had once after a week. There were too many people. This was not an excellent opportunity to enjoy my pepper rice.
Last Friday, I had a chance to have lunch in there. That was a first real opportunity to taste that. I ordered the signature Pepper Rice with Chicken. That was quite good. The rice served on the hot plate. It made me feel warm. Moreover, after I stir the rice with chicken on the hot plate. I found there were some hidden sauces inside the rice. That is cool! However, I found the portion sounds smaller than those I had in Hong Kong. I felt that was not enough for me as a full lunch. Rather than that, I am quite happy with this lunch experience!

UNO-$5
When I opened the catalog for Woolworth’s specials this week, I found there is an attractive item – UNO, that is only $5 until the next Tuesday. That is a half-price special. In my memory, there is a rare opportunity. I cannot remember there is any half price special before. Also, the UNO is an excellent and classic game for friends; even I think that will be fun to play UNO with my wife and my daughter. So, I bought one today!

Sand Safari Arts Festival

The major event happening in Surfer Paradise is Sand Safari Art Festival. I have been there a few weeks ago. That sounds quite interesting. There are a number of sand sculptures sitting on Surfers Paradise Foreshore. All of them are themed with a different sea creatures, moreover, the artists only used sand and water to create them, they is magnificent! In additional, there are inflatable arts placed in the beach!

I have not realized today is the new year eve of Chinese New Year. Most of the Chinese in Brisbane live in Brisbane southside. Thus, we have a few of Chinese New Year Celebrations, although they are smaller scale than those in Sydney and Melbourne, I know there will be street markets and dragon dance. Our Chinese New Year Celebrations are mainly in Sunnybank Plaza and Grand City; those are the major shopping malls in Southside.
For Sunnybank Plaza, there will be kung fu and lion dance performances in front of the cinema at 10:30 every day from today to this Sunday and ice sculptures at 2 p.m today

There are also lion dance performances at Graden city between 16 and 18 /2 and fireworks at 8:00 pm on New Year’s Day. There are also lion dance shows in some smaller shopping malls in Southside. You can watch out for any announcements in your nearby shopping malls.

I wish you all a Happy Chinese New Year

Super Blue Moon Tonight

Last night, we watched the news. BOM said tonight; we can see the Super Blue Moon. They said that would be the largest in the century. However, I remember about a year ago, there was a Super Moon. We went to Mt Gravatt Lookout for watching the Super Moon. All car parks were full. In the end, we did not stop at all. Thus, tonight, we will watch the Super Blue Moon in our
backyard. If you do not mind to seek a car park very hard, you can go to Mt Coot-tha Lookout or Mt Gravatt Lookout for watching the Super Blue Moon.

In recent years, Yum Cha Cuisine restaurant is working hard to expand their business, they opened several branches, and like to open in the mainstream shopping malls. Moreover, a few days ago, I found they also got a branch in Hyperdome. The most important things I found is a significant discount at lunchtime every day. All dim sums are $4.80. All “Small, Medium and Large” tag dim sums are in the same price.

So we had a lot of dim sums that day.
For example, prawn dumplings, in other branches, eacd dish costs $ 6.80. Now it’s just $ 4.80.

And my favorite dish, Dough Stick Cheung Fun has an original price tag,$7.80, now is priced down to $ 4.80. So today we had six dishes of dim sum. The final bill was $33.
This price is very attractive, so if you have a chance to go shopping that mall, you can consider this restaurant as one of your lunch options.
It has not the afternoon tea session, so the restaurant closes at 3pm, and reopen at 5pm for dinner.
