Underwood Bunnings is moved

Bunnings Underwood

Underwood originally had two Bunnings hardware stores. One was on the Compton road, the other was on the Kingston road. Last year, the one in Compton Road closed to rebuild. Until a few weeks ago, it has been reopened, I was thinking that there are two Bunnings again. But last Tuesday, I went to the one in Kingston Road for buying some tools. Unfortunately, this store has been permanently closed. Actually, two stores have merged into one. Finally, I went to the new store in Compton road, only a five-minute driving distance. Honestly, I thought that the two rooms were so close together. There are no reasons to have two Bunnings in the same suburb. Besides, the new store environment is better, there are a lot of covered parking spaces. Even on the raining days, I do not need to worry getting wet.

The new store is also a lot bigger, and the shopping experience is more comfortable. It seems to be air-conditioned. In summer, it is more comfortable when you buy something. I like the new store!

Brisbane Festival 2018

From tomorrow to 29th September, we have a major annual event held in Brisbane, Brisbane Festival. There are different activities in the Brisbane district, such as the various art performance held in QPAC and QUT Creative Industries Precinct. However, the main event is to focus on Southbank’s culture forecourt, which is called Treasury Brisbane Arcadia. There has been a small theater, Courier-Mail Spiegeltent, where there are some musical performances. Of course, besides live entertainment, there is a place for eating and drinking. I believe the same as previous years. There are several food stalls and an outdoor bar. In addition, this year there is a mirror house, House of Mirrors. They used 40 tons of steel and 15 tons mirrors to build a giant mirror room. the visitor can have a fancy journey inside, but an entrance fee is $10 .

Also this year, at the section of Brisbane River where is in front of the culture forecourt, there is a laser show called celebratebrisbane river of light, not just lasers. In the middle of the river, a small stage was set up, At the stage, dynamic jets and giant spirals of water will be featuring with the laser shows. I saw similar performances at the Brisbane Festival a few years ago, and it was wonderful! If there is a chance, I will go to City for watching this performance. In addition, there are three sessions per night at 6:30, 8:00 and 9:30, which are quite convenient.

Of course, I would like to participate in RiverFire fireworks show at Brisbane River on 29 th September we should not miss that!

The details of the different activities can be found on their website

Also, it is also a fireworks show at 7 o’clock in the present and tomorrow nights. The most important thing about the “Little” EKKA is the free admission! So I believe it will be suitable for your family size!

EKKA is on now!

EKKA 2014

EKKA, I believe that is the most significant event in Brisbane, started today! This event holds in RNA showground until 19/8. Firstly, this event is an agriculture show. Of course, during the show, you can see a lot of livestock and crops.

Nowadays, EKKA got a lot of various activities. It sounds like a carnival.

It got some rides and some live performances and firework displays at night!

If you go to EKKA, you should miss their show bags which is a bag contains retail merchandise. This merchandise will have much higher value than the price tag of a showbag.

Also, there is the gourmet plaza again. That is similar to a street food market; you can enjoy from street foods in there. The stalls are from various restaurants, the choices are from Mexican to Italy.

Please do not miss that! However, the ticket price is quite high. For adults, each ticket cost $35. Children ticket cost $20. If you are a member of RACQ, they will have 10% discount on the ticket price, if you choose to go on 14/8, RACQ got 15%off ! please find the further information from RACQ website
There is a cheaper option if you just want to watch the night show and to have dinner there. You can get a Twilight Ticket for $18 if you choose to enter after 6pm.

Garden City New Library
Garden city new library opened on last Wednesday. However, the opening events were on last Saturday. I think that is a good idea, which allows most of the working parents to bring. I went there too. When I arrived, there was an afternoon tea for all visitors. That was quite good.

Moreover, I found the library got bigger. There are rooms. Even a room calls secret garden for little kids, that is quite good. Besides that, on that day, some STEM tools has shown off, such as 3d printers and small robots.
3D Printing @Garden City
They are very useful for those young kids. I saw a lot of kids were keen on that at the session. Of course, this library still had a lot of foreign languages booms such as Chinese and Korean. After this visit, I like that library then the old one

Night Noodle Markets 2015

From tomorrow to 5th August, it is the Night Noodle Markets again. You can go to the cultural forecourt of the South Bank every night to “sweep the streets” and taste Asian street food. During the period, there were more than 20 Asian restaurants stalled there, such as:

Filipino skewers – Hoy Pinoy, there is a big charcoal stove to do skewers!

Charcoal grills

And Blackstar Pastry, n2 Gelato, Teppanyaki Noodles, etc. Blackstar Pastry’s Watermelon Strawberry Cake has been very popular in the Night Noodle Markets in recent years. When I went to Sydney at the beginning of the year, I personally tried their lychee and watermelon cakes. The taste was excellent! my friends in Sydney say it’s one of the must-try items for tourists.

lychee and watermelon cakes

Of course, it will not be just about “food” , there will be some live music performances too.

I believe that this year’s night market will be quite exciting!

However, according to the experience of previous years, the amount of food they sold is not too significant. If you want to eat enough, each person will spend almost $20, and please remember your bank card, only accept the card, not cash.

ToysRUS Australia ran into the Administration for a while. About a month ago, their Administrator planned to close down all stores across Australia.
Because of this action, all stores are running a closing down sales. Last week, I went to their store in Garden City. I found there are still a fair amount of stocks. The most of goods got the 20% to 40% off. Today, I got an email from them, there will be a further cut-down, 30% to 50% off. I think that will have some good deals. I bought a small bear for my daughter.
