Last Sunday, I went to Hanaro Mart, which is a Korean Grocery Store, in Sunnybank. I saw there was a poster placed in front of that store. That poster said Hanaromart in Calamvale Central will have a grand opening on 9th July 2016. Pre-opening will be on 6th July 2016. That is great. I am waiting for that a while, I saw the store in Calamvale Central has covered by the wooden boards for at least a month. Finally, it will open two week later!

These few days, Antarctic blast is pushing the cold air up to north. This makes the temperature cooling down. That sounds good to play with some ice. This may be the reason I saw there are a few people to attend Winter Festival in King George when I was in City few days.
I saw the giant ice-skating rink has a number of people. Moreover, I saw the European style market had a few people to have some hot food. In additional, I saw a few kids were playing the real snow in Powder Pit.
That sounded fun too!
I think there is a joyful place to have a icy winter!
A lot of my friends said taking a bus from home to city is very expensive, even a colleague told me the fares of public transports in Brisbane is the 3rd highest in the world. I believe that is truth, I live in Zone 5. I need to spend $5.96 for the bus fare from my home to Brisbane city. That is a lot. Fortunately, Queenlsand government will restructure their Translink fares. New structure will be activated on January 2017. I think most of people will pay less included myself. According to the Translink website, there are the few key points as followings:
Currently, Translink included 23 Zones. In the new structure, there will be 8 zones only. Therefore, each fare zone will be larger. Currently, I live in Zone 5. In the new structure, I will be in Zone 2.
The fare of single zone will be reduced to $3.20 from $3.35. After the zones will be restructured, the most of people need to travel one zone to city. Therefore, that is only $3.20. I live in Zone 5, after the restructure, I need to pay $3.90 for the trip from home to city, instead of $5.96.
The morning off-peak discount period is still keeping same from 8:30am to 3:30pm, but the evening off-peak discount period will extend from the existing period( 7pm to 3am) to the new period (7pm to 6am).
All children from 4 to 14 year old will have free ride
The fare will be reduced a lot, I think that sounds ok to change some existing free bonus. Now, if you are using go card, after 9 rides in a week, then you can travel free of charge in the translink network within the same week. That will be replaced. In the new structure, if you are using go card, after 8 rides in a week, you will be 50% off all rides within the same week.
I love these changes which saved a lot of travel expense for our family!
During these few days, Calamvale central is getting a bit quieter than before. The asian supermarket is closed a few months ago. Also, last month, Dick Smith in there closed. Fortunately, when I did my grocery shopping last week. I found there will be a new asian grocery store, Hanaormart. I like Hanaromart in Sunnybank. That store got a lot of asian goods. Almost, I can find most of groceries I want in that store. And I found that store is quite neatly too. It will open at the same block which is the chinese grocery store. I wish it can attract more people to be there.

Today is a holiday, that is ANZAC Day, which is a national day of remembrance in all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
I think the most appropriate activity is watching the ANZAC Parade. There are many service men and women taking part. Also, the ex-service men and women since War World II are in the parade squadron.
That is a good activity to learn Australian History.
Besides this activity, actually many other activities you can, the most of stores won’t open to allow their staff for watching the Parade. If you want to do some shopping today, you will be disappeared.
For the activities you can do during the ANZAC day, maybe, that is good to have a good walk in a national park. There are many beautiful national parks around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Some of my friends went out to a national park today for having some fresh air.
Rather than those activities, I think this is having a break at home. This activity is I and my wife chosen.
Recently, a few global fashion chain stores planned to expand their networks in Brisbane. On 14th November, H&M opened their new store in Queen Street mall and UNIQLO planned to open their new store in Queen Street mall on the end of this year too. I also found Zara is working on their new store at Queen Street Mall too. It will open at 20th November 2015. The opening hours is from 9am to 9pm. Well, I think Zara is a bit too expensive for me. I think UNIQLO more.
There is a kind of beautiful purple tree in Brisbane. That calls Jacarandas, Moreover, during these few weeks, that is the full bloom of the purple flowers from Jacarandas. It got an interesting name, “Exam flower”. It got full bloom during the exam period of university. In addition, this kind of tree is common in Brisbane, you can see a lot of purple tree along the roads or in parks such as New Farm and Botanic Garden. For me, I like to go to UQ Lakes at University of Queensland St. Lucia Campus.
Last Saturday, I went to there for watching this Purple Rain. That was quite magnificent. There is a corridor near the bus station, both sides along the pathway have Jacarandas. I felt like in Japan, the sky turned to purple. That was so nice. I recommend that is a family activity.
UQ Lakes got a large grassland. Your family can have a picnic in there and enjoy the scene of purple rain. Lastly, the car park near UQ Lakes are free to park during Saturday and Sunday. Please do not miss that.
Highfresh supermarket is one of major chinese grocery stores in Sunnybank area, but it has been closed for renovation before. Today, I was in Market Square. I found they reopened. Of course I entered this store for “inspections”. That is good, the owner really did a good job, the store has a new interior! The interior is modernized, more similar with CitySuper. I love it.
If we go to City, we won’t drive unless that is weekend or evening time. Normal weekdays, that is very expensive. It can cost you $15 per hour. Taking a bus is a more affordable option.
If we go to City during weekend or evening time, that is a different story. The parking fee will be $12 per day. Moreover, if you book online, there will be further discount. Last week, we went to Night Noodle Markets at Southbank. We used Secure parking, and booked a spot online. I parked their SW1 car park just behind convention centre. That was only $5, which is cheaper than bus fee. Also, that is very convenient. I made a booking online a few hours before our arrival. Then the system will email a PIN to me. When I enter the car park, I just need to put the PIN in the gate. That is easy
In conclusion, our suggestions is taking a bus to City during weekdays. If we go to City during weekend or evening time, you can consider to make a booking online and drive. If you travelled with at one person, that is cheaper.
Two weeks before, I and wife went to Harbour Town for shopping. There are a lot of outlets. A lot of discounted goods are in there! My wife did not get many things she want, but I had somethings. I only spent $20.
I bought a shirt for $10 in Cotton On. That is quite stylish!
I bought a sport shirt for $10 in New Balance. That is very very good for jogging. It can wick sweat easily to keep you dry!
