There will be fireworks at Brisbane River on 7pm tomoorow. This is the largest event in Brisbane Festival.
Moreover, Superhornets will fly over Brisbane too during the event!
Please do not miss this event!
After I and my wife watched the City of Lights, we moved the garden in front of QPAC. There is Brisbane Airport Light Garden. I remember last year Brisbane Festival got a similar setting, but last year was using a lot of Chinese style lanterns. This year, there are full of LED lightings.
Personally, I love this year settings more. The LED lightings will be flashing and changing its colour. I felt like entered the forest in future world! That is cool. I believe most of the kids will love that.
We took a short video of Santos GLNG City of Lights. Well, that is still better to watch it in person!
On 7th September, the Brisbane Festival started. This is one of Brisbane’s major events. I join this event every year. There were a lot of excellent performances during this festival. Out of those performances, I loved the laser performance show the most.
Last Friday, I went to watch the Brisbane Festival laser performance show which called itself the Santos GLNG City of Lights this year. I love the organisers. They worked hard. The performance is not the same each year; they have some improvements every year.
For this year, the setting included a huge waterfall at the stage in the middle of the BrisbaneRiver. The laser will draw some symbols on the waterfall, just like a painting. The laser looks like somebody dancing on the waterfall.
Moreover, there was a three people real dance on the bending pole at the main stage just in the waterfall. This feature is the new thing this year, not just laser and water. This year, we got some real “live” performances. Besides of the performance at the main stage, the buildings in CBD have flashing lights and laser which are flashing to Southbank. They are excellent too! When I saw the performance, these features made Southbank feel like a dance party.
For the best spot to watch this performance, I recommend the Culture Forecourt in Southbank. That’s the closest to the main stage and there are a number of speakers. During the performance, the speakers will play some live music. It was very enjoyable in there, which is a perfect mixture of laser, music and dancing performance.
I highly recommend you to watch this performance, from now to 27th September. From Sunday to Thursday, 7pm and 8.30pm there will be Santos GLNG City of Lights. For Friday and Saturday, there will be three sessions at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. Please don’t miss this performance!
Few weeks ago, i bought hair cut kits in kmart for $23. It has a electrical hair trimmer, hair comb and scissor. They are all i need for hair cut. Moreover, having hair cut at home is easier than I thought. For front part, i can do hair cut with a mirror and scissor. All i need to do just follow style. For back, that is too difficult. I asked a friend to hold the electrical trimmer cut hair shorter. My friend told that is easy ,just like to use a shave. That is an easy job and save some money. If you have a hair cut outside, that is around $20. Now, i just spent $23 dollars. In a return, we can save $240 per year!
There are a number of Street Market in Brisbane, such as the weekend market in Southbank and fresh food market in Brisbane Square. Recently, I found there is a new Street Market in Brisbane. This market will be held in King George Square, just in front of City Hall, on every Friday. The most interesting part is all products are created by Brisbane Artist and completely hand-made. That is very unique.
Today, I went to Surfer Paradise. Actually, I have not been there for ages, that should be more than six months. Well, I found there have a lot of changes. The area near Surfer Paradise Centro was closed for the renovations. This times, there is re-opened! I found there are a lot of new chairs installed!
By the way, I found Surfer Paradise Festival is taking place. That is a lot of fun. Firstly, at the beach side, there is a night market. A lot of stalls are selling some interesting stuff, such as some magic tools!
Moreover, there was a big music concert! A lot of people were attending this one! Well, they had some fun in there!
P.S. Surfer Paradise Festival is from 27/3/2013 to 21/04/2013

There are not too many Chinese people living in Brisbane, but we still manage to have a lot of fun come Chinese New Year!
We get to eat a lot of tasty dishes, because there are several special food items that only get served during the Chinese New Year period.
One of my personal favourites is the Chinese new year cake, also known in Cantonese as ‘leen gol’. For those of you who prefer hot food, my favourite is the ‘lor bark gol’ otherwise known as radish cake. Yum!
Having a special dinner together is also a big and important part of Chinese New Year. You get to eat a lot of delicious food, like ‘charsiu (Cantonese for BBQ pork) and roast pork. Oh dear, talking about all the delicious food available for consumption during the Chinese new year period makes me wish that it was Chinese new year again already; alas, it’s just ended!

Tomorrow is our Chinese New Year. First of all, I wish to say ‘Happy Chinese New Year’. Our Brisbane has not many activities, that is nearly same as others weekdays. However, we still have some celebrations, such as lion dance in sunnybank plaza at 10.30am tomorrow. Well that is good enough. I am in Australia now.
Note: In the photo above is Welcome Chinese New Year Festival in Sunnybank Plaza Car Park. That is quite interesting. When I was in there this afternoon, I saw some traditional Chinese Performances in there.

After heavy rain and damaging storms on Sunday night, I am ok. For the affects for us, that was just about a day power outage. We lost electrical power since 6pm Sunday to around 4am today. For other parts of Brisbane, I heard about from friends, there were some floods. This morning, my friend sent me some photos which took in Riverside near Eagle Street last night, the pathway had water.
The restaurant near the citycat pier had some water went inside too.
Moreover, when I drove around this morning, everywhere had some trees fallen down. I went the park nearby, the pathway had full of falling trees! I did not felt safe to walk around.
However, in general, that is not as bad as the 2011 floods in Brisbane. We are so glad about that.
