Last week, I went southbank culture forecourt. I entered the main venue of Brisbane Festival,Arcadia.  That sounds much larger than past years.  There are a few giant tents. The largest one is a bar.

JpegIf you like to drink some beers, that is a good choice, you can enjoy the beers and views of Brisbane River at the same time. However, because there is a bar. You need to provide some identity documents to prove you are over 18. That is a bit annoying to me.

If you don’t like to have a drink, there are some food trucks, you can have some burgers or curry.

If you don’t want to have a drink and get somethings to eat, there are some entertainments too.  You can buy a ticket to watch  Club Swizzle or Fear and Deligh at a small theater in Arcadia. Or attending a free event at QPAC, there are some live brands in front of QPAC.

JpegIf you want somethings quiet, there are some 3D chalks painting.

There will be two shows,  Club Swizzle and Fear and Delight. Even on the surface of arcadia, that is also a part of Brisbane festival. That is Brisbane Airport 3D chalk which is a 3D chalk street painting. That is intersting

Lastly, on 26th September 7pm, at Brisbane river, there will be a firework show to celebrate the end of this year Brisbane Festival. I think you should not miss that.

Lastly, every night will be some live entertainment and fireworks in there. This year, there will be a transformers live action show, that sounds interesting.

If I have time, I will visit this show! I think you should not miss that.

Last night,we went to Southbank for Night Noodle Markets. A lot of people were there and 30 stalls opened and provided various kinds of food, such as Japanese Ramen, Japanese Style Pizza, Chinese Xiao Long Bao  etc. We enjoyed this kind of  vibrant aisan hawker  market atmosphere. I think that was more people in there than last year.

Night Noodle Markets 2015

This year, I think the event organizer  did a better job. There are some improvements. Firstly, there are more tables and chairs for visitors. We sat and enjoy our food. Moreover, there are some performances too, I saw illuminated lion dances. Those two illuminated lions were walking around the whole market. Everyone loved them, they passed by. Everyone took his/her phone to take photo.

Lastly, this year, most of stalls accept credit cards and paypass. I love this kind of cashless arrangement. Without changing cash speeded the queue.

For the food, we tried two stalls. The first one was Chicken Teppanyaki ($13) Noodles. I love this kind of stir fry noodle. They were freshly cooked and I felt the hot temperature from the noodles. Also, Teppanyaki sauces is very tasty.

Secondly, we tired Hoy Pinoy. They are from Melbourne and travel up to Brisbane and make Filipino street bbq skewers. We saw them put two big Charcoal grills next to the stall and kept to make skewers. The skewers smelled good.

Finally, we had chicken and pork BBQ skewers ($12). the sauces on the top was good. That has unique Filipino flavours.chicken and pork BBQ skewersBesides of them, I saw there are some interesting dishes. There are korean and chinese small burgers. They looks quite interesting and mixing the traditional aisan cuisine with burger. At the end, I felt they are a bit expensive, around $10 for a palm size burger.
Lastly, a thing you need to be aware. Most of stalls have a long queue. I spent around 15 minutes for waiting in each stall. Please provide more time for this.

From today until 2 August, every night, the market will open in Culture forecourt in southbank

However, I pointed out some highlight stalls.

Baotime:

This is a restaurant from Melbourne. They converted Chinese buns into Chinese bao burgers.  That is quite interesting.

Japanese Pizza Okonomi House:

A lot of friends like their Japanese Pizza.

Japanese Style Pizza

Taro’s Ramen:

I love japanese Ramen, I will try their signature dish, Tonkotsu Ramen.

Sorry about that, I have not time to list all stall in here….. The best way is going out there!

Also, this year will have Night noodle market agian, this event was very successful in last year Good Food Month. In this year, a number of  restaurant stalls, themed bars, music and an outdoor party will setup in Culture Forecourt Southbank again. I am looking forward about that. I found during these recent years, Brisbane has more tool roads, such as Go-Between Bridge and Airport link, clem7 and a new gateway bridge. This month, there will be a new one joins the network, Legacy Way. This toll is a 4.6-kilometre tunnel which links the Western Freeway (Toowong) to Kelvin Grove. The construction are completed, and today opened to Brisbane people walk though! However, I got another work to do, I cannot be this events. I only can enjoy to watch the photo taken by my friends went to this event in Facebook!

H&M@Garden City

H&M@Garden City
Yesterday, there was the grand opening of H&M new branch at Garden City. This is the 2nd branch of this fashion grant, H&M, in Queensland.
Today, I and my wife went to there for shopping. There were too many people. We had to line up a queue to enter the store. The waiting time wasn’t very long, only for a few minutes. We found the store is quite large, the store has two stories, including male ,female and kids fashion departments, fashion accessories and sportwear. Also, there are some grand opening offers, , such as $2.95 for a shirt! Most of goods are only around $20 to $30. Those prices are quite reasonable, which are similar with H&M in Hong Kong. I think those are the reasons to attract the crowds today!
