Sunnybank $2 Food Trail Summer 2016

I think Sunnybank $2 Food Trail is an effect marketing campaign. In my memory, Sunnybank Plaza holds that event twice per year.
This Saturday (12nd November,2016), Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park will hold an event again. On that day, from 2 pm to 8 pm, the participated restaurants in those two shopping centers will offer $2 tasting plates. Besides, the ranges of the dish on the offers have wide range of choices, such as Chinese, Japanese, Hong Kong Style, Vietnamese, Korean and Taiwanese styles. Also, because we are in the Summer, this times, some restaurants will offer chilled desserts and they mentioned some other new mini tasting dish. According to their website, this event is only about food; there will be some live entertainments too, such as live performance from
local musicians ,stilt walking geisha girls and crowds. Also all kids will be received the free balloon.

Butterfly Storm

caperwhite

During these few weeks, when I drive in Brisbane, I saw a lot of white dust floating. At first sight, I thought I was worrying my glass is not right and I need to get a new one. But after I looked them in details, they were a group of white butterflies. Yesterday, this problem got more series. I saw them everywhere. Moreover, there is a wind blowing, a huge group of white butterflies came out from a tree. It did not look normal at all.
Fortunately, I read the news from Yahoo. It calls Caper White. This species of butterfly migrates from Western Queensland to our East Coast every year. This kind of situation is entirely normal. That was a bit larger number this year. I think that is fine too and I saw the number of butterflies is reduced.

Today, I drove along Mains Road; I saw some Jacaranda trees are blooming. The whole tree turned Purple. That is charming. That reminds me now is the Jacaranda Blooming season. Late October to November, in Queensland and Northern NSW have a lot of blooming Jacaranda. There are a lot of good spots to watch Purple Jacaranda. The first spot is the place near UQ Lakes. Last year, I visited there and took some photo of Jacaranda. The second spot is in Botanic Garden. There are a few.
The other good spot is Grafton, where is a Northern NSW regional town. Also, there are a few streets where have planted Jacaranda Trees. There are some purple trees and I heard in the town, there are several big Jacaranda Trees. Besides, from Now to 7 Nov, Jacaranda Festival is held in Grafton. The town has a lot of activities related with Jacaranda. In additional, Grafton is a historical town. Someone recommended there is an old church is worth to live. However, please be aware Grafton is about 5 hours driving distance from Brisbane. For us, those people live in Brisbane; that doesn’t sound like a spot as a day trip, and Currently, that is Jacaranda Festival period. That is not easy to find an accommodation. The second best option is Coffs Harbour where is about an hour driving distance. There are a few more choices of motel too.
The blooming season won’t last long!

Masters@Parkinson

Last Sunday, I went to Masters in Parkinson. I went there about a month ago, there were not many good deals around. This times, I saw some good stuff, gardening stuff, such as Soils and Mulches. I bought a pack of sugar cane Mulch; that is only around $7  which is around half prices. Also, I saw a lot of stuff got 30-40% off. I think that is worth to have a browse.

Fishermen Basket @IKEA

If you are a fan of IKEA and live in Queensland, I will you must be a bit upset. Currently, we only got an IKEA store in Logan. For us, we live in Brisbane Southside, that store is very accessible. However, if you are in Brisbane Northside, that is very not good for you. Fortunately, IKEA is planned to open a new store in North Lakes which is in Brisbane Northside, just next to Bruce Highway. That is still accessible if you live in Sunshine Coast. That is bad. There is another good. I checked their website; this store will officially open on 17 November 2016. That is not long away. If you live in Brisbane Northside, I think that will be worth to visit.

Brisbane Festival 2016

Last week, I went to Southbank and visited the ARCADIA in Culture Forecourt. I was in there at afternoon, so there were not many people and a bit quiet. I think that will be better in the evening; the food stalls will open, and some live music performances will be on the stage.

ARCADIA
However, I found ARCADIA sounds smaller than previous years. The only attractive feature for me is a 3D wall and floor illusion. That is fascinating. I saw the tree in the picture is really 3D.

a magical 3D wall and floor illusion.
Regardless, on this Saturday, there will be the closure of Brisbane Festival 2016. There will be som exciting events. For example between 3 pm and 6 pm, Aviation displays will be in Southbank. Moreover, Sunsuper Fireworks will be 7 pm in Southbank too! I think you should not miss that

Zara opened in Garden City

Zara@Garden City

This Thursday, I went to Garden City for weekly night shopping. I saw the new Zara store opened in Garden City. The two-story of the shop used a white color as the main theme. It looks fresh and new. It got Men, Women and Kids sections. If you like the Zara style, I believe you need to spend a lot of time to shop! The atmosphere is very comfortable.
For men, there is a section for the business suit. The selection is quite good. Well, I do not need to wear a suit for work, so that is not very useful for me, although those outfits look good.

Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers

Spring has arrived, the weather began to get wammer, that is flowers blooming season.

In fact, this week has a flower related event in Toowoomba where is 130 KM from Brisbane; that is one and a half driving. From today (16/9) to September 24, Toowoomba holds its annual event, Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers

The Chronicle Garden Competition

The Chronicle Garden Competition

Same as previous years, you can visit the winners home garden The Chronicle Garden Competition. Their award-winning gardens are charming. Those homeowners have spent a lot of effort to design and work on their garden. Moreover, some of the gardens are not small; they can compare with those public botanic gardens. For the full address of those award winning gardens, please go to Toowoomba Visitor Information Centre. If you are willing to spend some fees, you can join bus tours to visit those gardens. Again, the further information about the bus tours can be found in Toowoomba Visitor Information Centre

Queens Park

Queens Park
Of course, going to Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers, we must visit the main venue of this event, Queens Park. There are a lot of beautiful flowers, and there are some rides and live performances. However, the parking spot close by are limited. You need to prepare more time for paring.

USQ Japanese garden

USQ Japanese garden

Another good place is USQ flowers Japanese garden. Likewise, there are many beautiful flowers in full bloom, but in a Japan Style.Just looking at the photo, I thought I had gone to Japan.

Grand Central Floral Parade Float Parade

Grand Central Floral Parade Float Parade

Another flagship event is held in at 3:00pm on 17 September  Grand Central Floral Parade parade. By then, there will be hundreds of flowery floats winding around Queens Park. Scenes are great.

Toowoomba Picnic Point

Toowoomba Picnic Point

If you go to Toowoomba, you should visit Picnic Point. Although there are not too many blooming flowers, there are some beautiful scenes to see. There is a lookout with panorama view of Toowoomba

Although we had some heavy rains yesterday, today the weather has been nice. So Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers is a good family activity for this weekend.

Zara@Garden City

This Thursday(15/9), Zara will have a grand opening for the newest store in the new extension of Garden City. If you like Zara’s fashions, you will be exciting, I saw those two-stories Zara’s store having construction for a few months.
However, Zara is not my cup of tea. I prefer the fashion style to be more causal.
