This times is my weekend recommendation is Gold coast show. It is from today to Sunday, at Broadwater parklands and Owen Park. I would call it, the Gold Coast version of Ekka, a giant carnival, and there are farm animals for kids, mobile games and music shows, and even Showbags. Also, it is also a fireworks show at 7 o’clock in the present and tomorrow nights. The most important thing about the “Little” EKKA is the free admission! So I believe it will be suitable for your family size!

A lot of international and local kite masters will join this event, or you can make a kite with the children and fly it in the public kite area. Besides, there are also market and live music performances. It should be suitable for your family. I am only worried about whether tomorrow will rain or not.

EKKA, I believe that is the most significant event in Brisbane, started today! This event holds in RNA showground until 19/8. Firstly, this event is an agriculture show. Of course, during the show, you can see a lot of livestock and crops.
Nowadays, EKKA got a lot of various activities. It sounds like a carnival.
It got some rides and some live performances and firework displays at night!
If you go to EKKA, you should miss their show bags which is a bag contains retail merchandise. This merchandise will have much higher value than the price tag of a showbag.
Also, there is the gourmet plaza again. That is similar to a street food market; you can enjoy from street foods in there. The stalls are from various restaurants, the choices are from Mexican to Italy.
Please do not miss that! However, the ticket price is quite high. For adults, each ticket cost $35. Children ticket cost $20. If you are a member of RACQ, they will have 10% discount on the ticket price, if you choose to go on 14/8, RACQ got 15%off ! please find the further information from RACQ website
There is a cheaper option if you just want to watch the night show and to have dinner there. You can get a Twilight Ticket for $18 if you choose to enter after 6pm.
From tomorrow to 5th August, it is the Night Noodle Markets again. You can go to the cultural forecourt of the South Bank every night to “sweep the streets” and taste Asian street food. During the period, there were more than 20 Asian restaurants stalled there, such as:
Filipino skewers – Hoy Pinoy, there is a big charcoal stove to do skewers!
And Blackstar Pastry, n2 Gelato, Teppanyaki Noodles, etc. Blackstar Pastry’s Watermelon Strawberry Cake has been very popular in the Night Noodle Markets in recent years. When I went to Sydney at the beginning of the year, I personally tried their lychee and watermelon cakes. The taste was excellent! my friends in Sydney say it’s one of the must-try items for tourists.
Of course, it will not be just about “food” , there will be some live music performances too.
I believe that this year’s night market will be quite exciting!
However, according to the experience of previous years, the amount of food they sold is not too significant. If you want to eat enough, each person will spend almost $20, and please remember your bank card, only accept the card, not cash.

Now is the winter time in Brisbane, but the lowest degree in Winter time is just only around 7-8 degree. Thus, we cannot see the snow at all.
However, you can go to SkatingAt Festiva to have a snowy winter.
From today to 22nd July 2017, a giant ice rink and ice slide have setup in King George Square. I believe you can skate in there. But you need to pay the entry fee, Adult $28, Children (8 to 13-year-old) $20, Kid (3 to 5-year-old) $10.(Buy online ~20% off).
Also, there are some food trucks next to the ice rink. They offer some hot foods, which is the best for the cozy winter.

There are a number of sand sculptures sitting on Surfers Paradise Foreshore. All of them are themed with a different sea creatures, moreover, the artists only used sand and water to create them, they is magnificent! In additional, there are inflatable arts placed in the beach!

For Sunnybank Plaza, there will be kung fu and lion dance performances in front of the cinema at 10:30 every day from today to this Sunday and ice sculptures at 2 p.m today
There are also lion dance performances at Graden city between 16 and 18 /2 and fireworks at 8:00 pm on New Year’s Day. There are also lion dance shows in some smaller shopping malls in Southside. You can watch out for any announcements in your nearby shopping malls.
